Shi'ar A far away galaxy which is primarily ruled by the Shi’ar Empire. Its exact location remains unknown. It is, however, believed to exist within the area of space containing the galaxy known on Earth as M-31 (Andromeda Galaxy). The Shi’ar Empire, though relatively young compared to those of the Kree and Skrulls and still in its main expansionist stage, consists of many different planets and species who have either willingly joined or been conquered though the leading class of citizen is the primary Shi’ar species of which the empire and galaxy receives its name.

Aerie The Shi’ar originated on a planet they call Aerie and their civilization predates Earth humans’ recorded history. Apparently Aerie’s environmental conditions are similar to those of Earth, since Shi’ar can exist on Earth without artificial aids. It is here that former empress Lilandra has formed a rebellion to fight against her sister and retake the empire.

Imperial Throneworld Imperial Throneworld is an artificial planet constructed by Shi’ar. Different artificial environments have been created on the Throneworld to serve needs of the representatives from the numerous worlds within the Empire. The Shi’ar gave the worlds they rule differing degrees on autonomy depending on various factors, notably their loyalty to the Empire. Some worlds have virtual independence, and are allowed to send representatives to serve on the Shi’ar High Council. Others, such as that of the Mephitisoids, are kept under virtual martial law. Recently Empress Lilandra was deposed in a coup led by her older sister former Empress Cal'syee aka Deathbird aided by the Badoon and the Brood. The High Council was dissolved, and most of its members killed. Deathbird now rules alone as a tyrannical dictator.

Asteroid M Asteroid M has several levels, including observation decks, hangar bays, living quarters, communal and privet eating facilities, swimming pools, various science labs, arboretums, training facilities, a special jungle facility where species of the Savage Land have been transplanted and medical facilities. The asteroid also has selective inhibitor fields, which may keep mutants or superhumans from using their powers and sports technology that keeps it concealed from standard detection and targeting technology. The facility has several classes of service robots which are instrumental in the stations upkeep, maintenance, servicing its inhabitants etc. The facility is positioned in stationary orbit probably over Anya Lehnsherr's grave (the deceased eldest child of Magneto) at a magnetically induced synchronous orbit 250 kilometers above the Earth. Built to both to survey the Earth and its goings on from high above and as a refuge for Mutants wishing to escape the prejudices and dangers of the earth Asteroid M is still maintained and run by Magneto as such as well as a special training facility for The X-Men.
